Nature’s classroom for the curious
We lead woodland sessions in our own carefully managed woodland supporting your learners, your goals, and the natural world.
At Weatherstones Wood, we run nature-based sessions in our own woodland – helping teachers, practitioners, and group leaders bring learning, creativity and well-being to life. From forest school programmes to outdoor therapy and craft-based workshops, we lead experiences that invite connection, confidence and hands-on exploration.
Nestled on the Wirral Peninsula, Weatherstones Wood is a five-acre working woodland overlooking the hills of North Wales. Once a Scots Pine plantation on an old quarry site, it’s now being carefully regenerated into a diverse, thriving habitat of native trees including oak, birch, rowan, hazel, and willow. Managed with sustainable, low-impact principles, the woodland is both a place of learning and a living example of coppicing, biodiversity, and ecological care.
From forest school sessions to craft workshops and timber production, Weatherstones Wood offers a grounded, hands-on space where people and nature grow together.

Voices from the woods
We’ve been doing this a while and have had some great feedback. But don’t take our word for it, here are some things people have to say about us.
The children absolutely loved their time at Weatherstones Wood. It was incredible to see their confidence grow with each session – from the wood art classes to the team den challenges, they were genuinely interested and really threw themselves into it. The sessions were well structured and timed, and the team brought a calm, expert presence that made all the difference. It was hands-on learning at its very best.

“
Spending time in the woods brought out a calmness and focus I hadn’t seen before in one of our more anxious students. The environment is supportive and non-judgemental, and the sessions were clearly shaped around individual needs. You could see a visible shift in confidence and engagement. It was the highlight of their week – and mine, too.
— Sophia R., SEN practitioner
“
I took part in a green woodworking session and loved every minute. It was so nice to be learning a new hands-on skill, outd amongst the tress and the birdsong . The instructor was brilliant, very patient (especially with me!), skilled, and made everyone feel at ease. I came away with something I’d made myself, a refreshed mind, and a real sense of joy. Looking forward to the next workshop.
